Description:
Born in Germany, Kuhlau was active in Denmark. Today, his flute works are the most popular in Denmark, and he is also known as the "Danish Beethoven. The "Sonatina" Op.20-1, also included in this album, is familiar to piano students all over the world as "Sonatina Album No.1. However, the sonata Op.127, with its deep expression reminiscent of Chopin's etudes, will renew your appreciation of this composer for his extremely sophisticated content. The sonata Op.8, recorded here for the first time, reveals a quieter and deeper side of the composer, even though it is technically incomplete. Pianist Ruhl, like Kuhlau, was born in the northern German town of Jrzen. He himself was familiar with the composer of the "Sonatina" as a child, and he approaches this work with deep empathy.
