Description:
A piano trio with a light and comfortable swinging feel! Baroque music swinging in style! The Charl du Plessis Trio was formed in 2006 by South African-born Charl du Plessis, and the third release on the Claves label, "Baroque Swing," was recorded live at a music festival in Ernen, Switzerland, on July 24, 2016. This is a live recording. The piano trio is a "cross-genre" artist, performing 130 shows a year, specializing in crossover music ranging from classical to rock, reggae, and salsa. The concept of "Baroque Swing," as the name suggests, is to combine works from the Baroque period with jazz masterpieces, and this time they performed Vivaldi's "Autumn," two of Plessis' own compositions, Bach's Doppelkoncerto, and a jazz suite composed of Bach and jazz masterpieces. Baroque masterpieces and jazz masterpieces swing in style.Baroque Swing Vol. 2" (501609) is also on sale (Baroque Swing Vol. 1 is a distribution-only release). (Baroque Swing Vol. 1 is available only for download.) The bonus DVD includes a scene of Charl de Plessis talking about the show, live footage of the Doppelkoncerto and the Bach & Friends Jazz Suite, and some footage from the Ernen Music Festival in Switzerland. The bonus DVD is in PAL format and cannot be played on NTSC DVD players for the Japanese market. King International Inc.
